What is Copyright:

Copyright is a concept that shaped up the online internet environment, it is the most basic infrastructure for the internet. It protects all the intellectual properties which Copyright policy is the most important policy to protect any types of intellectual properties on the internet, especially for the film, music, video, drawing, and software. Overviewing the history of the copyright policies, it is the most important thing in the digital era. People remain the equal and free access under the protection of the net neutrality (Pickard & Berman, 2019). Therefore, in the age of the information explosion digital era, people access any information, resources to satisfy their self. The copyright cooperated with the technologies companies such as Google to provide regulation for their intellectual properties on the internet.

Copyright System in social platform:

YouTube is the social media platform which everyone will use it every day, anytime, everywhere. YouTube has also created the new type content creators’ jobs called youtubers. There are various types of youtubers providing their creative content to entertains the audience, therefore, they require to make their video interesting and use the resources online. For example, to embed copyright owned music in the video to make the video more attractive. Which this has extended the other issue which is the Content ID system.

The False Detection:

The false detection from the content id is an issue in the enormous youtubers community (stratagem, 2020). Many youtubers complained the policy of fair use of the other people’s music or video was ambiguous, the policy of content id is the system detect any copyright claim music, the system will calculate the percentage of the music use in the whole video, and resulting with certain percentage revenue share to the copyright claim properties. However, it has resulting at any percentage of the licensed music, melody, or video will completely remove all the revenue from the video uploader to the copyright owner (The Original Ace, 2019)

YouTube Copyright Claim:

The youtuber The Original Ace has posted a video “Abusing YouTube Copyright Claims(Tutorial) has pointed out the problem of this system was lack of accuracy, and the large companies has the higher authority to manually claimed the individual youtubers, which it will killed all the revenue of the individual youtubers which it was still a false claim, which the users claimed that it was totally under the fair use policy. (The Original Ace, 2019)

The Creative Common:

The creative common is the non-profit organisation to solve the issue of the fair use of the certain copyright owned properties (What is Creative Commons?, 2015). The problem of the YouTube Content ID system ambiguous status for the copyright content that have been used by other content creators. Therefore, Creative Common is the better solution for labelling all the copyright content and make it easy to understand for those content creators who requires. In this case of the YouTube system the Content ID does not provides the persuasive power for providing the individual users in the social media platform but protecting the large companies who also used YouTube.

How to Avoid the Violation of the Copyright Rules in social media Platform:

The Content ID system in YouTube is not the best and only solution in the social media platform for the content creators due to the false detection of the similar melody of the original music. YouTube has the ambiguous policies of the fair use of the copyright contents, therefore, to avoid any possibility of violating the copyright rules in ant social media platform is to use the licensed content which have been approved to use. The creative common system is a good way to check the content whether is licensed or not. For example, for the case of YouTube, it is better to use the music database YouTube provided or even buy the licensed music which approved to use in the content creation process.

Since Google has the largest database for providing the digital fingerprint id for the copyright content (Suzor, 2019). Therefore, the automated copyright detection system called Content ID has introduced to YouTube. It does control the Piracy Content of the YouTube and benefits the copyright holders. However, Content ID system was lack of accuracy and it caused a loss of advertisement revenue from the individual content creators but large enterprise benefits with this revenue. Therefore, the creative common might be the better solution for the content creators on YouTube to avoid the use of the licensed content for their video and save the revenue for their own goods.
