In this essay, we are going to analyze the transformative effects of the Uber Technologies company (Oei & Ring, 2019). Uber Technologies is an online transportation service entity. The Uber Technologies company has had a transformative effect on our use by determining independent drivers’ terms and their locations near to customers and their prices for delivery services depending on supply and demand of the service.

The Uber Technologies company has also had a transformative effect on the human use of the Internet and their economic, social, and culture. Uber Technologies has its developed an online application, which serves as a car service hiring app. Customers use the Uber app as a bridge between independent taxi drivers and the company through the Internet. Economically, Uber Technologies has increased the efficiency in mobility, which is a source of drivers’ wages. The Uber Technologies service involves a transformative culture of trust as an effective vehicle and customer tracking system.

2.  Uber Entity history development and Transformative Effectiveness

Uber Technologies is a transportation management service entity whose services include a standard car private car that comprises four passengers. The Transportation service entity service options depend on customer preferences in location, vehicle luxury, shipping, and additional assistance to individuals who might have physical disabilities through services such as using a wheelchair accessible vehicle. Before the introduction of Uber technology services in the global market, people used the method of shouting at taxis, which led most people to spend hours waiting for a driving service. The use of technology could only invite the solution to the problem through the use of mobile apps (Breidbach & Brodie, 2017).

Uber Technologies was found by Garrett Camp, a computer programmer. Garrett Camp founded the Uber cab service in 2009. Garett wanted to identify a method that would decrease the cost of direct transportation. Garret identified that sharing transportation costs with other individuals made transportation affordable. The first implementation of an Uber company was built by Garrett and his friends Conrad and Oscar, where Kalanick was the company’s chief advisor. The company was officially launched in 2010 in America, San Francisco, and Ryan Graves was the first to be employed in the company and was made the company’s CEO.

The company has transformed effectively after its launching in 2010. In 2011, the company name was changed to UberCab from Uber after taxicab operators in Francisco complained of the name (Ceipek et al. 2020). The company later hired a computational neuroscientist, machinery expert, and a nuclear physicist whose task was to predict the demand trends at the rate at which private car drivers were hired. Uber later launched a mobile app that enabled users who had phones and access to the Internet to request regular taxis.

In 2013, Uber transport service was identified as the technology company of the year. In 2014, Uber company implemented a shared transport service Uber X in other states globally as a cheap option that enabled people to drive using non-luxury vehicles. Uber also introduced food delivery services.  In 2016, Uber technologies faced stiff competition in China transportation service market. As a result, Uber acquired 18 percent of Didi by selling its services to Didi in China, who also invested 1 billion dollars in Uber. Later in 2017, Expedia group CEO Dara Khosrowshahi became Uber CEO.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation gave Uber Technologies a five-star privacy rating, although the company faced critics for tracking their customer’s geographical location even after the ride service. The critics made the company to restore its privacy policies. In New York, the Taxi driver group also protested against Uber company to limit its technology utilization, which impacted traditional businesses.  Through the Internet, Uber Technology services combined its operations through collaboration with various companies worldwide in exchange for an ownership stake. For example, Uber collaborated its services with a Linux company by becoming a golden member and Southeast Asia.

The company’s success in the ride service market has been transformative in changing people’s perception of what a taxi service entails. Uber Technology has also enabled populations worldwide to appreciate the internet technology for the easy service of tracking an Uber by the customer by just using a mobile app. Currently, Uber has transformed in various services offered such as Uber for Renting, Holiday renting, and groceries. It is due to the trend in the utilization of the Internet that Uber is embraced by its consumers due to its meeting and shifting its customers’ expectations by offering easy and efficient services.

Uber owns no cars; it utilizes the internet transformation by connecting customers to independent vehicle drivers, shoppers, and homeowners. Uber improvises its transformation objective in utilizing the Internet to solve the age-old problem ways of business and change their consumers’ lives through advancements such as Cloud computing to enable the business to operate more effectively. The Internet has enabled the Uber company to run similar to a comprehensive enterprise.

Garett Camp and Travis Kalanick are the two individuals who are the foundation of the Uber Technology service company. Garret and Travis implemented the Uber idea after facing challenges traveling back to their homes during snow in the evening back in 2008. Garret and Travis implemented the app by referring to the friendly mobile apps which could be used to enjoy service from anywhere. They implemented the unique idea of an Uber service by following a specific business strategy model to ensure customers embrace the business service effectively.

The Uber Technology service company business model is that independent drivers who own cars register their vehicle with Uber company (Anthony, 2020). The company later help the drivers acquire customers through internet connections. The key partners of the company include drivers, company investors, and Technology providers. The Uber company’s business objective is to expand its services to new states of the world by adding more drivers and different features in ride options and support to its customers. The business model for Uber uses channels to connect independent drivers and customers, including the use of the Uber mobile app and advertisement.

The Uber business model segments its customers to those individuals who do not own vehicles, people who need an emergency ride, people who cannot drive a vehicle, and people who require an alternative affordable ride. The business model for Uber implements efficient relations with their customers through a feedback system for their customers, automation of their mobile app, regulatory services, and a convenient customer support service. The Uber business model’s vital resources include technology personnel, Analytics experts, brand name marketing, and the programming (data and algorithm) staff.

4.  Uber Place in its Industry or Social Ecology

Uber belongs to the transportation service industry (Shin & Jin, 2017). The ride service position in the transportation industry is that it offers more quality and fast transportation services through a partnership with drivers. Customers hire private drivers with a tap of a button on their smartphone device. The Company also offer favorable prices and a higher transparency degree to its customers by allowing them to choose or select drivers of their choice concerning fare amounts. The company also protects its drivers and customers’ integrity by keeping the location tracking data private.

Since Uber company initiation, it has partnered with various core companies such as Virgin America, Trulia, and Spotify. The strategic Uber partnership positively impacts Uber’s brand growth through a survey of market shares to grow the company. For example, Uber’s partnership with Spotify enables Spotify users to stream their favorite music while taking an Uber ride, creating a competitive advantage.

Uber also named its competitors to its business in its filing. Firstly, the competitors included startup companies such as DoorDash and Zoox. Secondly, the company also named Apple, Amazon, and Alphabet as its technology competitors (Nemanova, 2020). Lastly, Uber’s direct competitors include Ride-hailing companies such as Lyft, Ola, Careem, Taxify, Didi, and Yandex. Personal mobility businesses such as Lime, Skip, and Bird. Food delivery businesses such as GrubHub, Deliveroo, Zomato, and Delivery Hero.

Uber has transformed the Internet’s use as efficient for customers who seek ride services and drivers to effectively communicate using the company app utilizing the voice over internet protocol. Firstly, Uber’s technology is innovative through the transformation of business ideas in using internet services. Secondly, the use of technology to deliver packages to customer’s different locations. Lastly, the business has been able to penetrate various states worldwide, where customers implement transportation services (Kashyap & Bhatia, 2018).

Uber service has improved people’s social relations by ensuring employees are treated well by drivers and effective support service from the Uber staff. The Uber entity has enabled the introduction of new businesses such as fast foods by offering delivery services. It has also been used to mobilize cultural change where customers are assured of a fair and efficient transport service (Bilbil, 2019). Lastly, the Uber entity has triggered a regulatory policy of ensuring their customer’s satisfaction and privacy safety of their tracking location data information.

7. Summary

Uber Technology services have been part of an internet transformation. Uber technology has transformed the use of the Internet by changing the perception of taxi service. By using the Internet, customers can use an Uber hiring phone app, which acts as a bridge between Uber customers and drivers. Uber uses the Internet for innovative requirements such as food, traveling, and deliver packages to different geographical regions. Customers acquire the Uber services at the palm of their hands by using their phones for transportation services and delivery services. The introduction of Uber mobile-based applications attracted many internet user customers to use Uber services.

Additionally, the entity’s innovative strategy also involved independent drivers with private vehicles register their vehicles with Uber technology for easy access and connection with customers by use of the Internet. The Uber innovative business model also allows utilization of technology to provide on-demand cubs to preferred users. Through the Internet, Uber services customers also access the various services prices and select their preferred option.

Uber is considered as a great strategy in solving cab related problems around the world. The founders of the Uber technologies show the struggles in their way to success to reach their path of Uber success. Uber has moved to a global level company and stay ahead in competitive market and maintained business strength through partnership with other businesses.
