Facebook “kicked out” Donald Trump

The first time a social media platform bans a president over the post he makes.

Former US president Donald Trump’s Facebook account was suspended due to several posts he made praising and supporting people engaged in violence at the Capitol on January 6.

After the suspension was upheld by the Oversight Board, Trump inveighed against Facebook and released a statement accusing Facebook of being corrupt and destroying and decimating the Electoral Process.

While supporting the suspension, the Oversight Board said that Facebook will have to “reassess” the “indefinite ban” it gave to Trump in six months.

At the time of the suspension, Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said in a post that “the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great.”
