Anti Amber Heard Twitter Campaign
Bullying and harassment is large problem associated with digital platforms and the internet. The recent Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard court case gained world wide internet attention, and brought about one of the worse cases of cyberbullying and cyberstalking the platform has ever seen. The Daily Wire, an American news site spent over $35,000 on promoting articles about the trial, which had a very clear bias against Heard. According to sources, Twitter did not do enough to mitigate the platform manipulation and did very little to stop the targeted harassment towards Heard.

Logan Paul ‘Suicide Forest’
An example of violence online is the infamous Logan Paul ‘suicide forest’ video of 2018, in which he visitied the Aokigahara forest to film a Youttube vlog. The contents of the video involved Paul filming a dead body, hanging from a tree in the forest. He made frequent jokes surrounding the death and failed to filter the gruesome scene. YouTube failed to ban the content and to filter it before being posted online, relying on Paul to delete the video himself following mass backlash from the public. In Paul’s apology video he deemed the videos intentions were meant to be ‘’fun’, something far from the violent disrespectful videos he broadcast to the world. This highlights the importance of YouTube’s algorithm in the early detection and subsequent takedown of such footage.
