In modern society, everyone has access to the Internet environment, so the Internet sometimes affects our views and ways of thinking about things. A diverse network environment can provide us with diverse cultures, more innovative knowledge, and critical thinking skills. And the diversified network environment will also affect the better development of the Internet, society, individuals, and the economy.
The impact of diversity on the development of the Internet
Diversified network environments promote the development of the Internet. As the future development trend of the Internet, the diversity of the Internet will also enable the network to have more directions for innovation and development. Internet culture is also described as another virtual community of human life (Castells, 2002), in which human beings are active, diverse environments, cultures, and new investment methods attract the attention of different investors, who will conduct business in the virtual community. Economic investment, or technological investment. This will make the Internet society more perfect and promote the development of Internet culture.
The impact of diversity on society and individuals
The diversity of the Internet can reduce personal and social prejudice, and society will increase its employment rate. As an indispensable platform for human life, media subtly affects people’s thinking and behavior. When the Internet becomes diverse, then it will broaden people’s horizons and make people less prejudiced about things. The media will provide a cultural database (Ellis, 2019). Images of people with disabilities appear on television, and many theorists have noted that disability is stigmatized and stereotyped on television (Ellis, 2019). And the imagery of female characters on TV and the media is also defined as an “adjunct” meaning that female characters don’t have a positive impact on the narrative (Ellis, 2019). When most of the things that appear in the mass media are monolithic and stereotyped, the audience will have a prejudice against this thing. When diverse groups express their opinions on the Internet, or the group image described in the media is more diverse, it may change people’s stereotypes about a certain group and increase the employment rate of these groups.
A diverse online environment can enhance the civilization of society. A diverse internet presence will give people a more open-minded perspective. Even at home, people can learn different theories through the internet and become more aware of the already diverse world, thus giving them the ability to think critically, and they will be able to see the world more objectively and with less prejudice. The absence of prejudice will make people more tolerant. From there, society can become more civilized. The objectives of the “Copenhagen Declaration and Programme of Action” are poverty eradication, full employment and social integration (n.d.). This includes a major reference to the fact that social integration should be promoted by fostering inclusive societies that are stable, safe, just and tolerant (n.d.). Respect for diversity, equality of opportunity and participation of all people (n.d.). Therefore, a diverse network environment can make the society more harmonious and open.
The impact of network diversity on the economy
Diversified network environment can increase employment rate, thereby promoting economic development. If the Internet is not diverse, when the image of a certain group is stereotyped in most people’s minds, for example, disabled people usually give the impression of anger and pain, while women are stupid and attached to others(Ellis, 2019). Then this will reduce the employment rate of these groups, because no business will want to hire such people. Therefore, a diversified network environment can reduce people’s stereotyped influence on groups, thereby increasing the employment rate of these groups and promoting economic development.
The diversity of cultures in the network can contribute to the development of tourism as a way to boost the global economy. Tourism has become the world’s third-largest export industry after fuels and chemicals, ahead of food and automotive products (Rasool et al., 2021). People from all over the world can see the different cultures of other races or countries and regions on the Internet, and thus people are attracted to travel, and the development of tourism can significantly increase the economic development of the country or region.

Internet culture resembles another virtual community of human life. A diverse and free virtual community will attract people to make a series of financial investments in this virtual community. For example, “cryptocurrencies” are the product of technological diversification of the network environment, and Bitcoin and other digital assets are actually quite different from traditional asset classes such as stocks and bonds (2022). This attracts some people to buy these virtual currencies, and the development of technology will also increase the funds that people invest in developing the network environment. This will effectively promote the development of different economic systems.
The hidden dangers of network diversification
Diversified network environment brings benefits to people, but necessary network supervision is required in the process of network diversification. After all, the Internet is a huge virtual platform. In the process of opening the Internet to diversify, some gray industrial chains will inevitably appear, which may make the Internet environment dangerous. For example, there may be some information about pornography, violence, drugs and so on in the network. This may confuse some teenagers or people with weak willpower. For example, the momo challenge (Team), which threatens the physical health of children in a form of induction. Later, with state and government restrictions on online speech, “platform regulation” emerged (Burgess et al., 2017). This will effectively inhibit the spread of bad information caused by network diversification. However, while enjoying the benefits brought by the diversification of the Internet, we should resist the temptation on the Internet.
Conclusion
A diversified network environment can promote the development of the economy and the Internet, and has a positive impact on both individuals and society. A diverse online environment can change people’s prejudices and make society more inclusive and harmonious. It can also increase the employment rate of minority groups, promote the development of tourism, and add more economic methods. However, the diversified Internet environment will also create hidden dangers, and it should also be regulated when the Internet is diversified.
