The impact of network problems on society and audiences

With the rapid development of science and technology, people’s lives are full of a great number of information. The digital platforms spread information through various media, which is rich in both advantages and disadvantages. The spiritual life of young people has been influenced greatly by bullying, harassment, violent content, hate, porn and other problematic content circulates on digital platforms. Internet users’ own literacy and the negligence of the regulatory authorities have caused some incidents that violate ethics, virtual network order and social morality to occur in the network world. The negative effects of the network have been gradually amplified, and media violence is a typical example of its negative effects. “Content moderation is hard. This should be obvious, but it is easily forgotten. Moderation is hard because it is resource intensive and relentless” (Napoli, 2018). And in the video clip, “Mass killings in a digital age: Why experts say online scrolling can cause offline symptoms”, Rachel Gilmore explains the footage and photographs of mass killing events such as a shooting at an elementary school in Texas, and in some cases, researchers say the viewers pay a psychological price. The impact of media violence on young people’s psychology is objective and cannot be eliminated in a certain sense. We can only take all possible measures to weaken the impact of media violence on young people’s mental health, and then maximize the healthy development of young people.

Who should stop the spread of cyber problems and how to stop them

First of all, we need to define the concepts of digital platform and cyber violence.  The digital platform is different from traditional media. It provides a more convenient space for the growth of cyber violence, frequently triggers cyber violence events, and enhances the negative effects of cyber violence. It is characterized by the diversification of the subject of violence, the complexity of the nature of violence, and the intractable governance of events. There are numerous kinds of platforms, which can provide people with various viewpoints. For instance, “But before beginning to challenge platforms for their moderation policies and their responsibility for the Internet’s many troubles, let’s start with a simple reminder. Reddit is an open-source platform on which anyone can create their own community of interest. Individuals can also download the entire Reddit codebase and use the platform for their own ends (Massanari, 2017).

We strive to take the government, the digital platform and the public as the governance subjects, and then we can take some measures. For instance, the governance of network laws and regulations, the positive guidance of network public opinion, the application of network technology, the governance of network practitioners, and network moral education as the paths to prevent and respond to network violence, so as to create a harmonious network environment.

In the process of the rise and development of the Internet, due to the rapid development of network technology, the improvement of laws cannot keep up with the development of the Internet in time, so legal loopholes are more likely to occur. Health. At present, there is no clear judicial interpretation of “cyber violence” in law. Malicious dissemination of information that damages the reputation of others on the Internet constitutes a crime of libel. Therefore, cyber violence is usually recognized as the scope of civil infringement. At present, we need to strengthen the perfection of the law and build a more complete legal system to prevent the occurrence of cyber violence.

There is no platform that does not impose rules, to some degree (Gillespie, 2018). In order to weaken the negative impact of media violence on the psychology of Internet users, Internet users’ self-discipline is also an essential link. Internet users should identify media violence and treat the information contained therein correctly. Today, with the development of science and technology, our lives are full of all kinds of information. It can be said that the Internet has brought great convenience to our lives. However, in the process of using the Internet, as users, we Internet users must be able to identify harmful information from the Internet world, and consciously resist such bad information, so as to cut off the spread of such bad information, we must also be aware of it, First of all, we cannot become disseminators of such harmful information. Just as Marie Woolf illustrates in the video clip, measures to address disinformation must be carefully worded so it cannot be abused by governments to justify censorship of journalism or criticism.

The influence of cyber violence as well as improving conditions

Simply using the means of forcible killing cannot fundamentally weaken the negative impact caused by media violence, but to a certain extent, it restricts the freedom of information, and we may lose more. It is true that media violence has a negative impact on the psychology of vocational college students. But there is no denying that it can exist and develop for a long time. We should face this objective fact rationally. Therefore, the relevant government departments need to strengthen the control of media violence. On the premise of ensuring the normal circulation of culture, they should implement strict media access mechanisms and audit mechanisms to effectively control the impact of media violence and purify the mass media environment. Although the existing laws and regulations in China involve media violence communication norms, the operability and enforceability of the laws and regulations need to be improved under the background of the current market economy, and there is no clear identification standard for media violence, leading to a lot of multimedia communication information still wandering between violence and non-violence. Some media overemphasized their pursuit of interest value at any risk, which has corrupted the social atmosphere. The voice of the public to control media violence is growing. Media self-discipline also depends on the acceptance of social criticism or suggestions. Only with the help of these media can we truly improve ourselves. As far as the current situation of media criticism is concerned, most of them are still at the height of academia or elites. The participation of the social audience is not high, the media can actively obtain the opinions and suggestions of the social audience through a variety of media channels, improve their communication behavior from the standpoint of the media communication object, and create a good media environment for the whole society.

The media is the main body of media communication activities, and its rights and responsibilities are unified. As a kind of commercial activity, media communication cannot be blamed for its pursuit of profit value. However, as the medium of cultural communication, the media should pay attention to the obligation of building a harmonious socialist society while pursuing commercial value. The media practitioners are the initiators of media violence communication, their professional quality and professional ethics directly affect the effect of media violence communication control. Therefore, media practitioners should pay attention to their own professional quality and professional ethics, constantly improve their self-discipline ability, strictly control the quality of information dissemination, and resolutely avoid becoming the perpetrators of media violence.

Conclusion

Last but not least, eliminating the negative impact of media violence and good communication on the mental health of Internet users, it requires the cooperation of Internet users, the media and the government. Given the current globalization of media dissemination of information, the complexity of information is an inevitable trend. We should not only see the advantages, but also pay attention to the disadvantages, and rationally face these letters. Therefore, we are ready for long-term research, always paying attention to the dynamic changes of media violence transmission and seeking the most effective solution to weaken the psychological impact of media violence transmission on many netizens in order to promote the stable and harmonious development of netizens and society.
