Florida governor Ron DeSantis’s press secretary Christina Pushaw credited the account for “opening her eyes” on the current state of education around sexuality- and LGBT-related topics.[23] Pushaw has interacted with the Libs of TikTok account more than 100 times since July 16, 2021.[29] Fox News host Tucker Carlson has credited Libs of TikTok, and Pushaw’s championing of it, as partly responsible for Florida’s passage of the 2022 Parental Rights in Education bill (commonly called the “Don’t Say Gay bill”), which prohibits instruction on sexuality and gender identity in age-inappropriate ways from kindergarten to third grade in public schools.[123]
